My Approach
In my practice, I recognize and honor the individuality of your grief. Whether it's empowering you to embrace your grief in your own way, reflecting and validating your personal wisdom, or helping you rediscover your inner spark after loss, my goal is to support your healing and growth. Grief, in its essence, is a journey towards rediscovering your love, light, and truth.
How I Can Help
Through personalized, somatic grief support sessions, I draw upon over 20 years of experience in yoga therapy, grief education, and my journey through loss. Our sessions are crafted to meet you where you are, combining deep listening, yoga therapy techniques, mindfulness, and a compassionate presence to support you through your loss.
Our sessions will include the following practices to cultivate somatic exploration and awareness of where you are holding your grief as you learn how to track your emotions in your body and move through your grief:
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Techniques and Practices: to cultivate mindfulness and somatic awareness
Reflective listening and Space-Holding
Guided Meditations and Yoga Therapy Practices
Grief Coaching: Lifestyle, Health, Wellness, Action Steps
Our Work Together
Our sessions are collaborative, tailored to your needs and experiences. I'm here not to offer advice or solutions but to accompany you on your path, facilitating a space where you can explore your grief naturally and at your own pace. Grief is not something to be fixed; it's a natural response to loss that, when embraced, can lead to profound connections, gratitude, joy, and love.

Wendy Black Stern
Wendy is the heart and soul behind the Center for Somatic Grieving, where her mission is to support individuals through the transformative process of grief. Her journey into this profound work began with a personal tragedy—the loss of her son Noah—which led her to a path of self-discovery and a deepened commitment to helping others. Wendy, a resident of Boulder, CO, finds solace in nature, and her passion for travel, deep human connections, and live music has provided a backdrop for her personal growth.
With over 25 years of experience as a yoga student and teacher, Wendy's expertise lies in integrating yoga with grief support. She is a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist and instructor, with additional qualifications in group facilitation and Reiki. Her work is influenced by the teachings of Ram Dass, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, Shiva Rea and Twee Merrigan.
In 2012, Wendy founded the Grief Support Network (GSN), a non-profit organization that emerged from her personal loss. After GSN, Wendy founded CSG, where she is dedicated to transforming how individuals and communities perceive, experience, and navigate loss, promoting a culture that embraces grief as an opportunity for growth and connection. Wendy's approach combines personal reflection, group sharing, and a grief-focused, somatic curriculum to guide others in their healing journeys.
