Mindful Grieving

A 9-Month Journey of Healing

Grief touches every part of who we are. It can feel overwhelming, isolating, and deeply personal. Yet within it lies an invitation—to tend to our hearts, to listen to our bodies, and to find a path forward with compassion and care.

The Mindful Grieving Program offers a 9-month guided journey where you can explore grief through mindfulness, movement, and community support. Each session is designed to hold space for your experience, providing tools that help bring ease, presence, and healing.

This program follows an evolutionary progression that guides you in self-inquiry to move through your grief and experience greater clarity and understanding of your purpose and life path.

This class series offers somatic tools and an intimate container for emotions and thoughts to be felt, expressed, shared and moved through. It is an invitation to awaken to yourself and all of life more fully by going into and through your grief, while being held in the sacred container of yoga.

A loss can often cause one to question or even redefine their identity. This can be a confusing and scary place to be, but through the support of a loving community, participants are guided to discover new parts of themselves and grow; not despite their grief, but because of it.

A Space to Breathe, Feel, and Heal

Healing happens in community, in movement, in breath, and in presence.

Through this program, you will:

  • Practice somatic (body-based) techniques to support emotional processing

  • Engage in yoga, breathwork, and meditation to bring ease and clarity

  • Connect with a supportive community that understands your journey

  • Discover tools to navigate grief with greater resilience and self-compassion

  • Find a space where your emotions are honored, and healing unfolds naturally

MEET YOUR GUIDE

Wendy Black Stern

Wendy is the heart and soul behind the Center for Somatic Grieving, where her mission is to support individuals through the transformative process of grief. Her journey into this profound work began with a personal tragedy—the loss of her son Noah—which led her to a path of self-discovery and a deepened commitment to helping others. Wendy, a resident of Boulder, CO, finds solace in nature, and her passion for travel, deep human connections, and live music has provided a backdrop for her personal growth.

With over 25 years of experience as a yoga student and teacher, Wendy's expertise lies in integrating yoga with grief support. She is a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist and instructor, with additional qualifications in yoga teacher training and Reiki. Her work is heavily influenced by the teachings of Ram Dass, Shiva Rea, Twee Merrigan and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy.

In 2012, Wendy founded the Grief Support Network (GSN), a non-profit organization that emerged from her personal loss. After GSN, Wendy founded CSG, where she is dedicated to transforming how individuals and communities perceive, experience, and navigate loss, promoting a culture that embraces grief as an opportunity for growth and connection. Wendy's approach combines personal reflection, group sharing, and a grief-focused, somatic curriculum to guide others in their healing journeys.

  • "This journey, in so profoundly holding me, taught me to hold myself."

It gave me 9 months to practice what you were modeling in the safety of your mentorship and the group until it had become a blueprint within me.

I don't know anyone today who would not benefit from learning this level of self containment, especially in such a cultivated, safe, consistent, practice-infused environment.

I think the beauty of this program, this practice, is that it will meet you where you are and steward you gently and powerfully to where your spirit within your earthly form is ready to go. I would say, come as you are. Do not push; simply allow, if and when you feel called. The process itself will rise to meet you.
