Shadow Work Self-Reflection Assignment

Listen to the centering meditation. Check-in with your four bodies and focus your awareness on where your shadow lives inside of you. Take some time to breathe into this place.

Notice where it lives in your body. Notice the emotions there and if this is a new or old part of your being. Notice how old this part of yourself is. Give this part of yourself space to be felt, heard, seen and experienced by you. You may ask this part of yourself, “if it could speak to you, what would it say?”

Write a reflection paper that is to be submitted to your cohort facilitator that speaks to the following questions:

  • Where does your shadow live in your body?

  • What is the primary emotion that you feel here?

  • How old is this part of you?

  • What does this part of your body have to say?

  • What happens when you acknowledge this part of you and invite it into the light to be fully seen and recognized?

  • Notice and speak to any resistance you may feel.

  • What does this part of you have to teach you about yourself?

  • How does this part of you inform your purpose, path, life, etc.

  • What are the gifts that may come out of your shadow?

Read  “It’s Ok, You’re Not Ok” by Megan Divine and write a reflection paper to be handed into your Cohort Facilitator

Write a reflection on your most significant take away from this book.

  • How does it connect with the Mindful Grieving philosophy?

  • How has the cultural stigma of grief impacted you or your community during times of loss?

  • What is your response to the perspective shared in this book?

  • Support your ideas with examples from your own life.

Minimum practice of 3 days  a  week. Please journal after each practice to reflect on your experience. Please note, journal entries do not need to be turned into your cohort facilitator. This is for you!
